Here is the most current version of our floor plan. Furniture and appliance/fixture placement is not set in stone yet and is still being moved about. We have the house situated with the long side (and most windows) facing south for passive solar heating. There will be 1′ overhangs combined with trellis and deciduous plants to provide shading. East/West we will be able open doors to catch any potential breezes and windows on the ceiling bump up in the center, combined with fans should draw hot air up. The floor plans are simple rectangles in units of 4′ to keep waste to a minimum.
To live in while we build we will build this. It will have the dining/kitchen on the ground floor, a possible basement for storage and a sleeping loft upstairs. The main house with connect at the far right of the entry. After the rest of the house is built this will be a office/sewing room and guest space.

The second phase of construction will be the main part of the house. This will be one story but with a taller bit in the middle with windows to let in some more light. The main wall that runs east/west will be lined with shelving.

Here are some renderings, the roof will be a living roof, the walls will be stone. Windows aren’t necessarily exactly where they will be or the exact size they will be. The south elevation isn’t entirely accurate either, there will be a walk out basement on the south side and it will come out about 8 ft farther than the ground floor, creating a patio of sorts on its roof.
